The Corsa first made its appearance in the UK in 1982 as the Vauxhall Nova. In Europe its counterpart was already known as the Opel Corsa. In 1993 the Nova name was dropped in and the car renamed the Corsa, as we know it today. The Corsa mark 4 or Corsa D as it known was introduced in 2006 and is produced in Spain.

218000 miles and still going
1997 (R)
It's only little - a 1.2 Corsa in blue but we have been all over the UK in it since we bought it and its twin in 1997. It may not have the umfffph now a days to overtake a hell of a lot but it still does 70+.But just think about it - this car is 15 years old and has done nearly 15k miles a year (218k miles) with very little work on it.
Sadly it's twin has just been retired as diagnosed with a leaking cylinder head gasket at 278k miles. RIP red one.
When you think they cost us about 6500 pounds then they were not the cheapest. We didn't even go for all the add-ons. No air conditioning but a sunroof. No electric windows, no central locking. Maybe this is what makes it good - a lack of gadgets to go wrong.
Tyres were cheap, services OK though we stop changing the pollen filter for cheapness.
This must have been one of the most reliable cars out there and long may she last.

Nippy Little Mover
2007 (07)
I love my Corsa - the acceleration 4000 rpm upwards is great - it has brilliant little extras, is comfortable, economical and none too shabby on the motorway either - easy cruiser at 90+ (Ssshhh). AS enjoyable as my old Corsa and for a 1.4 brilliant on fuel!Ms S Fleming

Vauxhall Corsa, perfect first car
2003 (03)
I only do a few thousand miles a year but I would recommend the Corsa as a cheap car for women or teenagers. Insurance was fairly cheap and the car has been excellent. The handling is impressive and it is basic inside. My only complain would be that the seats are not that comfortable. Mr G Michael

Corsa Sport 1.4 brilliant ladies car
2000 (X)
I bought my little Corsa 3 years ago when an inconsiderate male drive wrecked my previous Corsa 1.2. I have to say this car is impressive. The handling is light but constant and road grip is good. The sporty alloys not only look good but the wider tyres give me great road holding and a secure feeling. The car came with impressive standard items such as air conditioning, electric heated mirrors, heated seats - wonderful in the winter mornings.
As with all Corsa's, the boot is on the small side for any more than two people and their normal luggage/shopping etc. But the economy is a huge compensation. A gallon goes a long long way if you keep a light foot on the accelerator and stay around 55mph.
The 2 door version does have extremely heavy doors, which is inconvenient for elderly passengers if the door slams on the getting in or out so you need to take care with that.
The only downside I have found with most Corsa's is that the batteries don't last long, but as the servicing and maintenance costs are low this is not too inconvenient.
All in all this is a brilliant little run around that does well on the motorways if you don't pack it full of people and gear.

And it just keeps on going
1998 (S)
We have two of these beasties and they just go and go and go. One is now at 250,000 and mine has done 170,000. Ok they may not be the fastest or the biggest but they are great for us. I can do 350 miles to a tank full (45 litres) and can get to 85 comfortably. There were stupid decisions on it and VX try and grab every penny - like no cigarette lighter! VX wanted £200 to fit one - Halfords did it for free when I had a new CD fitted. And why oh why there is no alarm for when I leave the lights on.
In all they were great buys

Vauxhall Corsa 1.0
2003 (53)
My 3 door Corsa is lovely, once we got the engine management light fault sorted and the hard gear selection, fault sorted. Easily cured with a modified linkage repair kit though and the management light was an EGR valve both faults common apparently. The insurance group is great for a first car and the mpg is also over 50 driven right.
There are so many extra bits you can buy to style it to your liking so now I love this car, recommend one any day.

Reliable Economic First Car
1998 (S)
Got this when I passed my driving test when I was 17. Unfortunately its difficult to get it in a decent colour that hasn't faded was lucky to get it in dark metallic blue which looks awesome. It had done 76000 miles when I started driving it, in the 15 months I have had it id done just over 20,000 miles and I have only had one mechanical fault which cost £60 to fix. Lack of power steering can be hard work at times of parallel parking and hairpin turns.
The car has a 40 litre tank and I get 425 miles out of that driving economically, and 350 miles with normal driving.
Very durable has taken a few bumps and shunts from other careless drivers with little or no damage to the bodywork of the car.
Does 0-60 in about 12 seconds and can get 100-105 out of it. Not bad considering this is the 1.0i litre model I am talking about!
Overall the 1 litre Corsa is an amazingly reliable cheap car. Can't go wrong if you get this as a first motor! Just make sure you find a nice condition model if you are going for the older version.
