The Prius, manufacturerd by the Toyota Motor Corporation, differs from most other cars as it is a hybrid electric car. It began production in 1997 and is the first mass produced hybrid. There have been 3 generations released with the 4th unveiled in 2009 at the North American International Auto Show. the 4th Generation is due for release in 2010 and will have a 1.8 Litre engine but still provide 50MPG.

Great Round Town

I've been driving a Toyota Prius for the past month now and have to say I love it.I use it as a taxi and even with the constant stop/start town driving I get 55mpg.
The manufacturer states majority of driving under 30mph will run from the electric motor, I've managed to get up to 37mph on electric.
It's a smooth pleasant drive and one I didn't forsee. Yes the lack of engine noise can be a tad unnerving to start with, but once you get used to the lack of noise it's fine.
Bear in mind that when driven using the engine opposed to the electric motor it drives like a 1.5.
Inside the car is extremely spacious and will happily seat 3 in the rear. The boot is also spacious and can easily accommodate the weekly shop!!!!!
Overall a good reliable car that is both economical and environmentally friendly.
