Perfection in engineering, the definition of bland.

When I thought about buying this car, I thought it looked quite sporty, quite trendy. Being black helped. Sadly, that feeling wore off very quickly after we got it! It in only took weeks for the boredom to set in...

On one level the car is fantastic. It is perfection in design. Both inside and outside. Every button in the right place. Every corner smooth. Every gadget doing perfectly what it was supposed to. It had probably spent month in an air tunnel having the design tweaked.


It drove as it should. Never did anything wrong. Difficult to stall. Gears never missed. Good top speed. Good consumption. Never slow off the traffic lights. Comfortable, cruised all day long............. The boot wasn't the biggest but it was perfectly designed, and more than adequate for the size of car.


It passed the wife test - she thought it was a comfortable size, and good and easy to drive.


So why is it the only car I've ever that I hated? Because in the end it was designed to perfection, but designed to the point of total and utter blandness. There was no character. Nothing odd. Nothing to talk about with your mates at the pub. There is just nothing.


I suppose in the end it's one's relationship with a car. If you want a tool to get you around then this does the job. But a car is something you should be able to love when you've had a row with the wife. Here, there was absolutely nothing to love. The car defined dullness.
