SAAB

SAAB
Saab was a Swedish car manufacturer formed in 1947, which entered bankruptcy just before Christmas in 2011. Based in Trollhättan, Saab Automotive was originally owned by Svenska Aeroplan before a merger with Scania, with the car devision then being acquired by General Motors in the late 1980s. GM's worsening financial issues led to questions over the future of the brand until a sale was agreed in 2010 to Dutch car maker Spyker. However, increasing debts ultimately led to the company filing for bankruptcy after GM blocked a potential sale to Chinese firm Youngman.
