Some of the things I looked for when I bought my 2004 Porsche Boxster 986 2.7 All Black leather interior it's easier to keep clean. The grey and blue look like plastic. Glass Heated rear screen. The older models are plastic.

Wheels. 18” are expensive, tyres 265/35/18 Bridgestone £178 each (Feb 2011) hard ride but look great. 16” & 17” have cheaper tyres and a softer ride. Remember to check all the tyres are “N-1” rated, if not it could invalided your car insurance.


Sat Nav not necessary, very expensive to put right. Hard Top nice to have, but can be a pain to store in the summer months. Mileage under 8000 a year is a good bench mark. Check Full Service History, HPI etc. It's nice to have Full Porsche Service History, but the seller will demand a higher price. I bought my Boxster with half (Porsche) and half (independent) with no problems.


General comments. The engine feels strong and the body feels stiff. Controls, doors, boots etc are very German. You can even get a set of golf clubs in the back boot.


Drivers TIP, Place plastic black wheel nut covers to hide the wheel nuts, this set off the wheels. Service form an independent Porsche garage, oil & air filters with oil, also steering oil check £160 (Porsche £360). The pollen filter you can do it yourself. It very easy to fit, it's at the front next to the battery on left hand side.
