The S2000 was a two-seater sportscar launched by Honda in 1999 to celebrate the company's 50th anniversary. Named the S2000 due to the fact it came with a 2.0 litre engine - prior to a 2.2 litre unit being introduced in later models - the car was produced for ten years before Honda ceased building the S2000 in 2009. An 'Ultimate Edition' was offered with a removable hard top to celebrate the end of the production run of a car that secured numerous awards. The S2000 is Honda's popular roadster. First launched in 1999 it was created to celebrate the company's 50th anniversary. After 10 years Honda have confirmed that they will cease production in June 2009. Honda also announced that at this time they do not plan to launch a successor to the S2000.
