The BMW M5 was introduced as an ultra performance version of the 5-Series in 1984 at the Amsterdam Motor Show. Over the years the M5 has been made from various 5-series versions; the E28, E38, E39 and now the E60. When first let loose onto the car market it was the fastest sedan in the world.
