Austin
The Austin Motor Company was founded in 1905 and is famous for some of the most popular British cars ever made – such as the Austin 7 from the 1920s and the Mini in the late 1950s. Part of the British Motor Corporation from 1952, Austin then became part of British Leyland following a merger in the 1960s with the Austin name continuing through until 1987 when it was dropped – shortly after British Leyland became the Rover Group.
