Audi A4 2.5 TDI Converible, Multitronic. AVOID!!!

After deciding to treat myself with a convertible for summer last year, I chose an 2005 Audi A4 2.5 TDI fitted with the Multitronic gearbox. What a mistake.

Firstly the engine. 163bhp from its 6 cyl engine. Quite possibly the worst performing engine I have ever driven. Feels more like 63 bhp. Economical it is not. The best on a long trip would be high 30s mpg. Noisy, suspension and road noise, let alone the badly fitted interior trim rattling. And this leads to the biggest problem of them all! Multitronic automatic gearbox.

Take it from me, NEVER buy an Audi with this gearbox. Until it happened to me, I was unaware of the problems this gearbox creates. Lazy changes, jerking, just switching its self out of drive and cost!
There seems to be a problem with the clutch plate on these, affects all cars with this gearbox up to 2007. Which basically leads to MASSIVE bills. Please, Google the gearbox and you will see what I mean!

Overall verdict, loved the look of the car, good brakes and handling, BOSE sound system was awesome.

But the thirsty, slow, jerking, uncomfortable ride this car gives, Rubbish! And AVOID the MULTITRONIC gearbox.
