First produced in 1996, the A3 is Audi's small family car and is based on the same platform as a range of VW Audi Group machines - including the Audi TT. Available with a range of petrol and diesel engines, as well as two sporty versions (the S3 and the RS3) the car has proved to be a popular addition to the Audi line-up, giving drivers the chance to take their first step into the executive car market.

Audi A3 2.0 Tdi, Great sporty diesel which handles and performs great. Also cheap to run with great mpg

I brought my Audi A3 after years of wanting one. They hold their price so well the only way I could afford a decent one was to wait. I brought a 2004 reg and at the time it was 7 years old and in great condition. It had done fairly high miles at around 80,000 but with it being a diesel, a VW one at that, I knew it would go well in the 100's.
By far the best car I have ever owned comfortable, reliable, fast especially on the motorway pulling at 70mph and timeless, the shape today hasnt changed just different bumpers and grills.
Would advise anyone to get one.

Quality at Credit Crunch busting price
1997 (R)
The Audi A3 MK 1 is without doubt one of the modern classics, with so many still on the road racking up star ship mileage, it is plain to see this is a car that is built to last. I asked myself why but a 3 year old fiesta for twice the price when for similar insurance I can get a powerful and better looking car that is not only aesthetically appealing and modern looking despite being a number of years older.I do suggest getting one that has been Audi serviced as this adds value on return of sale, but also brings about peace of mind for added reliability along with the quality German build.
Looking at other 2nd hand websites and adverts, as you can see some still selling in perfect condition with 170,000 miles plus on the clock!!
